Tasman Rugby Union

Nelson is the home of rugby in New Zealand, being where the first ever competitive rugby match took place in May 1870 at The Botanics between a Nelson College side and Nelson Football Club. As the newest provincial union, and one of the least resourced, we are determined to prove ourselves as worthy of our place in the national provincial championship. We are a Union moving forward, inspiring and unifying the people of our region behind our teams.

Tasman Wheelers

The Tasman Wheelers Cycling club has been running cycling races in the Nelson/Tasman area for many years first as The Upper Moutere Wheelers, then Star and Garters Wheelers and more recently Tasman Wheelers. It was run for many years by Malcolm Saunders, now the Club Patron. Our primary purpose is to provide safe, interesting and competitive club races for all riders both senior and junior. We have more than 200 members from all over the Nelson and Tasman regions.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

100+ Year History - Big Brothers Big Sisters began over 100 years ago and has grown into the most widely established and reputable mentoring organisation in the world.

Here in New Zealand the organisation has grown consistently over the last 10 years to the point where it is now the largest youth mentoring programme in country and the sixth largest Big Brothers Big Sisters country operation in the world.

11 locations - over 900 children. Each year, in 11 locations, over 700 young people of New Zealand’s most vulnerable children and young people aged between 6 and 181 years benefit from the support of a carefully screened and trained Big Brother or Big Sister mentor.

And we’ve only just started. There is a very real need for us to expand our organisation in order to provide mentors for the hundreds of children on our waiting lists. Our goal is to provide this vital programme wherever there is a need and for all children who need the support of a mentor.
